Sienna is a recurring character in The Handmaid's Tale. She is a Martha in the Lawrence household who replaces Cora.

Before Gilead[]

Sienna planned to become a radiologist and started studying for the Medical College Admission Test.[1]

After the Takeover[]

It is implied that she had to give up her plans to graduate due to the general ban on female alphabetization and she was reclassified as a Martha.

Sienna replaces the dismissed Martha Cora in the Lawrence household. Along with Beth, she is seen preparing for a big meeting: All of the Commanders are visiting Commander Lawrence's house because he won't attend meetings. Beth and June whisper about the dwindling flow of information due to recent roundups among Marthas.

Mayday[]

Sienna helps to prepare for the big evening of getting the children out. She affirms to June that she is not a child and wants to help. She later helps lay the path to the airport and get moving. When they run into trouble at the airport she along with Janine, Alma, Brianna and Beth help June to distract the Guardians to make sure Rita and the children make it to the plane.

The Crossing[]

After June's liberation of 86 children, Sienna and Beth are caught at some point and brought to a maximum security prison. After June lies about the location of her fellow Handmaids, she is brought to the roof of the prison, with Sienna and Beth being forced to stand on the edge. When Beth tells June not to reveal anything about the Handmaids' location, she is pushed from the roof to her death. Sienna grows scared for her life, but when she appears about to echo Beth's directive, she is also thrown off by the cruel Lieutenant, before June can say a word.[2]
