It is also mentioned in the Boston Globe that the attacks took place in mid-September, quite close to, or around the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It also leads to 2 factions where the military rules but has civilians connected to the Sons of Jacob that would later form the guardians. The other is those in the military who don't submit to the Sons of Jacob faction but continue to permit states to function on basis that only involves overseeing law enforcement and also lead to that faction relocating to Anchorage and possibly being lead by a very low ranking survivng Cabinet member who had to go into hiding.
