Just like Chris, I'm here to help out however I can, just let me know! You can usually find me on Discord (my username is penguinstyles#9735), however, I'm happy to use whatever contact medium you prefer.
If you have any questions for me, please let me know. I'll try to respond to them as quickly as I can.
I'm really looking forward to working with you. I just started watching Handmaid's Tale recently and I'm enjoying it very much.
Hi Chris, thank you for asking. Indeed, I've recently observed some problems with the display of wiki pages on mobile devices ("mercury skin").
1. Putting a weblink under an image works fine with the classic oasis view, but not in the mobile mercury variant, where tapping on an image link just enlarges the image itself instead of opening the underlying link. You'll notice the difference when clicking on images in both Gilead (mobile) and Gilead (classic). It's annoying since navigation over image links is far more comfortable than textual links on small touchscreens. I have no idea why Fandom suppresses that feature just for touchscreens, do you?
Hey! Absolutely, from a portability standpoint, I'm very interested in ensuring wikis reach their full potential.
For the galleries, I spoke to someone from Fandom staff heavily into portability who says the links do indeed work but you have to tap on the image on the mobile device. It's difficult for us to replicate that using ?useskin=mercury but I'm told those links work on mobile devices.
That staff member, though, did tell me it may be worth your time to merge the three Gilead articles into one. This is mainly because the TV series article is going to be the most popular and the others less so. If you can have them on one article, you can then drive traffic to all three topics.
I know that might make the article longer, but that would make it more detailed and there may be some content you can merge together as they're about similar topics. :)
Unfortunately, there isn't a workaround for Facebook videos right now. With how the mobile skin operates, there isn't a way for Facebook videos to display. Super frustrating companies make some videos exclusive to social media sites.

In particular they do not work either when you tap on the image on a (mercury) page loaded by Firefox or Chrome for Android (on my mobile device). Tell your spokesperson they are free to contact me for technical details.

Remember we just split the article by media sources in order to restore verifiability+neutrality. I didn't see any other way to debunk fanwankers, false claims and other allegations at that point, so stepping back isn't an option. But yeah, to reduce unnecessary interaction (+ to bundle traffic), merging the media fork into the "Series" article could do.
I can't approve JS reviews unfortunately but they generally don't take very long. Hang tight!
Weird the links don't work, not sure why that is. They did work for me in that you click one of the 3 images on the article, then when the image is made bigger (in the image below) you can click it again and the article link will work. The screenshot below doesn't show it, but the link does also display on the image as well.
Instead of merging all 3, as the Series article is most popular of them all, it would be worth at least moving the Gilead (Series) content over to the main Gilead article. Then at the top of that article, you can then, at the top, sign post users to the other article. :)
Hi, sorry to bother. You might've seen all of the images I've uploaded quite recently, which are for a project I'm putting together. But besides that, I was wondering how I would be able to become an admin for this wiki? There are images I've uploaded that need deleting or renaming, and it's really inconvenient to not be able to do them myself. That may sound like a bad reasoning, but I was just wondering. :) Thanks for your time.
Yeah, once a file is uploaded its name persists.I just learned that I can't even grant the right to move (rename) a file to someone, as it is convenient for articles. Fandom politics due to unpredictable side effects, my guess.
You can always reload an image with a new name or overload an existing one (e.g. by a blank image) which should do the trick here. Files remain in the history even when an admin or content moderator "deletes" it.
Only "bureaucrats" can give you a user role that allows you to move files, i.e. not me (->Adama215). If you're going to share your image collection with the whole community by illustrating pages outside your "sandbox" too, a content moderator role for you would make sense, though..
Hi again! I'm just dropping by to let you know of a new scheme introduced at Fandom called Editor Rewards. This is a great new scheme designed to reward editors on Fandom, with merchandise ranging from free video games, hoodies, collectibles, and more!
To find out more about the scheme, please feel free to read the Introduction to Editor Rewards blog post Fandom staff posted. Also, please do leave feedback in the comments section of that blog as staff will be able to respond quickly and answer any questions you may have.
This feature includes some really insightful statistics that should allow you guys to inform some wiki decisions, such as:
Top viewed pages
# of page views (daily over the past 30 days)
Most visited files
Desktop vs mobile sessions
So as I mentioned above, this feature is really great as it allows you to see what areas are doing very well and how you can capitalise on them. For example, the vast majority of the wiki's readers (77%) view the wiki using mobile phones. You could really help these users out by perhaps updating your mobile main page with more categories for users to navigate to make their usage of the wiki easier. :)
Hopefully you like this feature, it's been highly requested for some time and we would really appreciate your feedback on it. For more help with it, please feel free to ask me questions and also refer to these two super useful articles:
Hey! How are you? I was just checking in to see how you guys are getting on, with season 3 only having a few episodes left. You're doing a really great job and I noticed views have spiked during episode premieres which is always good stuff. Is there anything I can help with at all? :D
Have you been able to figure out something about embedding third-party videos? I think it's a good way to maintain a steady community by recurring video presentations, now that the whole season has aired.
My name is Reverb, I am the bureaucrat of 13 Reasons Why Wiki . I hope that you're in good health and are doing fine.
I am here to request for an affiliation between the The Handmaids Tale Wiki and the 13 Reasons Why Wiki. With this affiliation, I hope that we can collaborate to improvise both of our Wikis and help each other in the future whenever in need.
If the affiliation is approved, we can exchange wiki wordmarks and add them to respective communities.
Please let me know if you need any additional information regarding my wiki.
Thank you for your time and consideration! Have a nice day!
I'm not sure if there are significantly overlapping audiences for the two shows (in particular, how many Hulu subscribers have an additional Netflix access), but since both shows originate from novels and have been adapted on screen with comparable success, a collaboration of the wiki communities may make sense.
In particular, I am going to set up a community area with a certain emphasis on content analysis, so I welcome (and need) any input from communities of similar purpose about what shouldn't be missing.
Can't give you a deadline to find a place for your wordmark right now (not too central, not too hidden .. you know). Just show me where you place our "Handmaids" + we'll find an equivalent spot for our affiliate(s).
Hello good day/evening, as the title suggests i wanted to ask for your permission as admin to change the USA flag (that is long overdue) from that cropped pic to the actual flag. I am taking this content from a concept made on the r/vexillology community in reddit. I eagerly await your reply. Thank you for giving your time to read this.
