Jill is a character in The Handmaid's Tale film.
Story[]
Jill is the daughter of Kate and Luke, and traveled with them to the Gilead-American border to escape. However, a vehicle of Guardians notices this and orders the family back to Gilead. When the Guardians shoot, Luke orders Kate to get Jill away from there as he draws a machine gun and returns fire. Luke is mortally wounded in the firefight, and Kate is quickly arrested. Her last sight of Jill is wandering in the backcountry crying out for her parents. This, along with her husband's death, causes nightmares for Kate for a long time afterwards.
It was later revealed that Jill was also captured. Serena Joy, in an attempt to be civil with Kate, says that there was news Jill is alive, and shows her a picture of her living with another Commander. Kate asks when she will be reunited with her daughter, and Serena says that is impossible, as Jill has now been educated to be part of the new family.
She is mentioned at the end when Kate is living in a cabin in the backcountry with some rebels. Kate's new boyfriend Nick makes ventures in Gilead for intelligence collection, and vows to help Kate be reunited with Jill one day.
