Dr. Hodgson is a minor character in the second season of the TV Series. She is a Martha who formerly worked as a neonatologist before the creation of the Republic of Gilead.

Before the Takeover Edit

According to Serena Joy, Dr. Hodgson was one of the top neonatologists in the world.[1] At some point, she trained the mentor of Dr. Epstein.[1]

Season Two Edit

"Women's Work" Edit

Serena tells June that Angela isn't doing well and that they don't know what's wrong with her. They could get the help of one of the best neonatologists in Gilead, but that would mean bending the law, as the person in question is a female Martha. Serena asks Fred if he can allow Dr. Hodgson, the Martha in question, to go to the hospital and check on the baby. However, Fred says no because they can't "question the will of God".

Serena chooses to ignore Fred's interests and forges his signature, thus allowing Dr. Hodgson to go to the hospital. Dr. Hodgson arrives, changes clothes and is briefed by Dr. Epstein. She runs some tests on the baby. The doctors later give Naomi and Warren Putnam bad news regarding the baby's condition. Serena goes after Hodgson who says that all they can do is pray for the baby's recovery.

It is unknown what happens to Dr. Hodgson after this point, or if she is punished for being associated with the forging of Fred's signature after he finds out.
