An unnamed butcher is a recurring character in the first and second seasons of the TV Series. He is an Econoperson and works in a supermarket where June and other handmaids frequently shop. He is also a member of the resistance movement.[1]

In the Present[]

Season One[]

"The Bridge"[]

June is shopping in the supermarket and approaches the meat counter. The butcher, under the pretext of retrieving "a fine cut of meat for Commander Waterford," provides her with the secret package from Rachel that she was supposed to retrieve at Jezebel's. He tells June that he's been saving it special for her. The package is later revealed to contain letters written by women in Gilead,[2] along with a note from Moira.

Season Two[]

"June"[]

After it is discovered that she is pregnant, June is taken to the hospital for an examination. After it is completed, she is left alone and begins to put her shoes on when a key falls out from her boot. The key gets her into the stairwell and she follows red marks that lead her down into a long tunnel beneath the facility. At the end of it, this individual is waiting for her with a refrigerated truck loaded with hogs to take her away. When the truck stops, he leads her into an empty corporate building at Back Bay (possibly a garage) where Nick welcomes her.
